Police boss constitutes special task force to rein in on notorious criminal gang

Rift Valley Regional Commissioner Mohamed Ahmed Maalim has constituted a special force to tackle a deadly gang terrorising residents of Nakuru City.
Speaking in Nakuru during a meeting with area chiefs, Maalim noted that he along with the Nakuru County commissioner have established a special task force to curb the terror gang.
"The county commissioner and his team had established a special force to deal with these youths they have been attacking people here and taking their phones, breaking into people's homes among other valuables," said Maalim.
However, the RC alleged that some politicians are behind the insecurity menace experienced in the region.

The police boss revealed that a majority of the youths found on the wrong side of the law are bailed out by the politicians, a move that's jeopardising the war on lawlessness.
"We have found that there are leaders who are following such youths and they are bailing out these criminals in court and we would like to sound a warning that if they don't avoid such habits, we would profile them as among these gangs terrorising residents," Maalim warned.
Following a recent incident where several people died after consuming illicit brews, the regional commissioner highlighted that the government will continue with the fight against illicit brews in the country.
Mr Maalim stated that all the chiefs have been ordered to ensure that brewers behind such illegal trades are arrested and prosecuted.
As the general elections approach, The RC noted that security agencies including chiefs, assistant County commissioners and county commissioners are mapping out the region to ensure that it remains peaceful during and after the election.
The Nakuru region has been highlighted as one of the hotspot regions.
