Police in hunt for abandoned child's mother

Police in Bomet have launched investigations into apprehending the mother of an infant who was found dumped in Bomet town.

The male infant was discovered near Kings Outreach Church along Bomet-Kapkwen section of the highway on Tuesday morning. 

According to Silibwet-Township Chief Reuben Ngetich, members of the public notified his office after finding the infant wrapped in pieces of clothing.

Ngetich said the perpetrator may have had the intention of abandoning the infant to avoid the responsibility of raising it.

He said he reported the matter to Bomet police station after which investigations commenced with an aim of arresting the suspect on charges of child neglect.

Meanwhile, the minor is admitted in Longisa county referral hospital where it is reported to be in a stable condition.
