Police investigating suicide case in West Pokot

Police in West Pokot County are investigating the circumstances, in which a man reportedly committed suicide in the Penon area, Parua sub location in Kipkomo sub county, West Pokot County.

Alex Yarakou Ngaliet was reported to have hanged himself from a tree using a sisal rope on his land Saturday.

West Pokot county commander of police Peter Kattam said the deceased had left his house early Saturday morning, leaving his wife sleeping and was later found dead hanging in a tree.

Kattam said the reason behind the suspected suicide has not yet been established.

He said the body was discovered by a neighbour who saw it hanging from a tree.

He said the police received the information from the chief of Parua location, Mr. Samuel Tuliareng, who reported the incident Saturday.

The county police boss said the police officers from Ortum police station visited the scene and moved the body to the Kapenguria County Referral Hospital mortuary for preservation and postmortem.
