Private schools in Teso North have posted commendable results in this year's KCPE exams that was released yesterday by Education CS Ezekiel Machogu.

Kyle Emuria who emerged second best student from Isegeretoto Academy with 405 marks attributed his results to hard work, discipline and efforts from his teachers.

Scoviah Akoth emerged the top student with 407 marks. The school registered a mean of 341.76 mark.

Purity Orono, the Isegeretoto head teacher noted that despite few challenges the school encountered, pupils bounced back to post commendable results.

“We believe cooperation has brought success to this school over the years,” she said, adding added that out of 32 candidates, 25 pupils scored above 300 marks with the last candidate getting 266 marks.

A few kilometres away at Machakusi Junior Academy it was joy and celebration after the school posted a mean of 375.89 with Gilbert Odera emerging best student with 401 marks.

Millicent Kaunya the wife to Teso North MP Oku Kaunya applauded teachers across the constituency for their tireless effort that has seen great improvement.

Mrs Kaunya added that the performance in the 2023 KCPE exams was phenomenal and would be remembered in years to come.

“We are glad as a sub county that our final Standard Eight class has excelled. Let us celebrate all candidates irrespective of their marks, as we head to the CBC curriculum, we hope to keep shining,” noted Mrs.Kaunya.

Teachers from both schools thanked parents and the government for cooperation and timely coordination that has seen schools in Teso North register a significant improvement.

Speaking to KNA, Kyle Emuria said he is optimistic that he will secure a chance to join Alliance High School with a dream of being an engineer.

“I am now hopeful to join Alliance Boys, which has been the school of my dreams. My success is due to the support I got from my peers, teachers, and parents,” said Emuria.

Machakusi Junior Academy top student Gilbert Odema is hopeful of joining prestigious Kabsabet Boys High school.

“It took the hand of God that I managed to register 401 marks and emerged the top student in my school. I would like to join Kabsabet boys and pursue my dream of being a civil engineer,” said Odema.

Overall, private academies seemed to have outperformed the public schools in this year KCPE results across Busia County which is hailed as a remarkable improvement from last year.

Several public primary schools also posted good results with Malaba township primary registering 7 pupils with 400 marks and above.
