Former Permanent Secretary in The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Development Prof. Jacqueline Oduol is amongst the latest cohort of appointees to the County Government of Siaya by Governor James Orengo.

In efforts to fully constitute his administration, Orengo’s nominees for various positions were last week Friday 29th September vetted by various respective county assembly committees to ascertain their suitability for the positions they were nominated for, and the reports were discussed in a special sitting of the Assembly on Monday 2nd October 2023, a process which culminated in the ceremony held today (Tuesday) at the Governor’s offices.

Prof. Jacqueline Oduol who took oath as the new CECM for Water, Sanitation, Environment, Climate change, and Natural resources replaces the incumbent Caroline Onyango who was sent packing by the assembly on grounds of abuse of office and gross misconduct.

Amongst the other appointments that were confirmed during the occasion attended by Orengo included Chief Officers for various departments such as Jack Odinga and former MCA Judith Oyugi for chief officer budgeting and planning, and water and sanitation positions respectively others were Kevin Ajuul, Elizebeth Adongo, and Michael Ombambo confirmed as roads, public works, transport, and communication; agriculture, livestock and fisheries; and finance, trade, industry, and cooperatives chief officers respectively.

A 2022 General Elections Alego-Usonga parliamentary seat aspirant Dr. Kut Ochogo, a professional teacher, counselor, and manager was given the nod to serve as the chief officer for the Department of Youth, gender, and Social Services.

The Governor urged the new appointees to uphold their diligence to the people of Siaya, who have bestowed upon them the burden and privilege of serving them, adding that the offices they now hold are not for their individual gain but to serve Siaya as a whole.
