Ruto lists top three achievements since taking office

By Peter Ochieng

President William Ruto has listed his three major achievements, since taking office a year ago.

While being interviewed on Inooro TV from Sagana State Lodge on Sunday night, he said his achievements so far lie in education, agriculture and stabilising the country's economy, through public debt management.

On education, he said, “During the campaigns, we promised we would deal with matters education, and you remember the issues we had with CBC, parents did not know what would happen to their children after class 6."

“My happiness today is that the task force we formed after I came to office has ironed these issues out and now our kids have a clear path to education."

Additionally, he said his administration has hired over 30, 000 new teachers to deal with shortage of teachers, among other issues in the key sector.

In agriculture, the Head of State said the major achievement remains lowering the cost of fertiliser.

“52 percent of Kenya’s cost of living is the cost of food, we have used over 12 billion to subsidize fertilizer because that is the right thing."

And on stabilising the country's economy, Ruto said: "Our first intervention in the supplementary budget, we removed Sh300 billion of money that we would have borrowed. We have also reduced our fiscal deficit from nearly Sh1.1 trillion to Sh700M, we have removed close to Sh500B that we would have borrowed."

Ruto was sworn in on 13th September, 2022, succeeding his former boss, Uhuru Kenyatta.
