Ruto tells Jalang'o he's in right track over ODM summons

By Peter Ochieng

President William Ruto on Saturday urged Lang'ata MP Phelix Odiwuor alias Jalang'o to stand still.

The comedian turned politician is among 9 Nyanza legislatures who have been summoned to appear before the ODM disciplinary committee on Wednesday, for collaborating with President Ruto.

Speaking during Interior Principal Secretary (PS) Raymond Omollo's homecoming ceremony in Homabay, Jalang'o requested Ruto to speak to ODM party leader Raila Odinga, 'so that they do not finish me.'

"Next week, I am going to appear before my party ODM, because I have been summoned before the disciplinary committee. I have looked at all the charges, I am being accused of being a friend to Ruto," Jalang'o told the President.

"I know you are a friend to Baba (Raila Odinga) and you guys talk. Please talk to him because looking at others who are facing similar charges are the likes of Ojienda, who happens to be a lawyer. Jamani wasinimalize kama uko (let them not finish me when you are around)."

In a rejoinder, Ruto told Jalang'o that the summons mean he is on the right track, politically.

The President said he faced similar fights when he was an ODM official, some years ago, but now he occupies the top seat in the country.

"I was the deputy party leader in ODM and at some point, I also received a letter from the party's disciplinary committee. And if you see that you have received such a letter from ODM, that is when you know you are on the right path," he said.

"If you haven't received that letter you have a long way to go," he added.

Besides Jalang'o, Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda is among law makers having a date with the ODM disciplinary committee next week.
