Ruto will deliver his promise to you, Shollei tells Homabay residents
Nationally Assembly Deputy Speaker Gladys Boss Shollei wants residents of Homabay County and the Luo Nyanza region at large to embrace William Ruto’s presidency.
The region is traditionally Azimio La Umoja One Kenya leader, Raila Odinga’s stronghold; with locals overwhelmingly rallying behind his unsuccessful presidential bids in 1997, 2007, 2013, 2017 and 2022.
It consists of Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay and Migori counties.
Speaking during a fundraiser for construction of St. Mary’s Wachara catholic church in Ndhiwa, Homabay county over the weekend, Shollei said president Ruto will deliver his mandate and promise to all Kenyans irrespective of whether they voted for him or not.
"I have heard all your concerns which include having power in schools but not in homes and lack of water. What I can tell you is that president William Ruto through the Kenya Kwanza plan has said he does not want to hear the issue of people lacking water in this country. He has said he is the president of the entire nation, even here in Wachara he is the president,” said the Uasin Gishu county women representative.
“We shall work together, do not have any fear,” she added.
Silvance Osele, former Kasipul Kabondo Member of Parliament (MP) said Ruto will lead for two terms, before leaving office in 2032.
"William Ruto is the president of Kenya until 2032. Get used to it and use that information properly,” he added. Shollei,
Osele and former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) president Nelson Havi were invited to grace the fundraising by Agostino Neto, former Ndhiwa Member of Parliament.
The former legislature said he fully supports Ruto’s administration, urging locals to shift their support base from Odinga to the Head of State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Neto, the United Green Movement (UDM) party leader is seeking to recapture the Ndhiwa MP seat in 2027.
He lost the position during the 2017 elections.
Havi urged him to join president Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.
