School heads urged to be vigilant over drugs

Kakamega county commissioner John Ondego has urged school heads to be on high alert to prevent entry of drugs in schools.
The commissioner made the remarks after some students were arrested with rolls of bhang from a school in Kakamega south sub county.
He asked police officers to be on the lookout to arrest drug peddlers and notorious people who are sneaking drugs into schools.
Speaking during the Madaraka Day Celebrations at Bukhungu Stadium, Ondego challenged residents to always volunteer information to police to assist in improving security.
He noted that there has been an increase of theft of school items from various schools in the county as he assured of swift action to arrest the situation.
The commissioner also urged ward administrators from the county government to work closely with chiefs to curb theft of cattle.
