Senator Ledama Olekina criticizes government performance

By Robert Mutasi

Narok Senator Ledama Olekina has criticized the government's performance in the past two years, which he said was marked by many broken promises and a static economy.

Speaking during an interview with a local TV station on Monday, September 16, 2024, pointed out how the current government failed to implement its promises

He lamented that the country seems to be going backwards economically; to him, the last two years have witnessed a situation which resembles going back to those times when poverty was the order of the day.

He termed the period "a total disaster", accusing the administration of bringing the country back to a time when basic needs were hard to come by for many Kenyans.

"It is unfortunate because we cannot turn back the hands of time as what has happened in the last two years has been a total disaster taking this country back to the times when poverty reigned," Olekina said.

He also pointed to the two last years which were characterized by a series of promises the government had on better living standards, yet the same has not translated to tangible change on the ground.

"The last two years have just been promise after promise after promise, nothing tangible," he added, expressing disappointment in what he sees as a lack of action towards addressing pressing social and economic issues.

Olekina stated that if the government does not take action on these issues, it will be a strong campaign issue in the next elections.

Olekina's words align with those of other opposition leaders and sections of the public who believe that the government has not gone far enough in easing the hardships of common people.

Olekina's remarks serve as a warning that Kenyans have grown impatient for actual solutions and action in return from their leaders.
