Senator Sifuna:We want to eat, we are hungry
By Robert Mutasi
Nairobi County Senator Edwin Sifuna said the government has not solved the food security problem despite many lamentations.
Sifuna stated that the government has prioritized reducing taxes on other sectors over basic commodities.
Speaking in an interview with Citizen TV, Senator Sifuna said many Kenyans are hungry because they cannot afford food on their tables.
He condemned the Kenya Kwanza government for giving the upper hand to other issues that are not closely relevant to the citizens.
"You cannot tell Kenyans you have reduced taxes on furniture when they are hungry. We want to eat," Sifuna said.
He urged the government to respond urgently to the demands of citizens who are suffering.
As elected leaders, Sifuna advised them not to boast about their positions but to work closely with the citizens who elected them to fulfill their manifestos.
"It is only dictators who believe they know what is best for everyone; that somehow because they were elected, they are this genius who knows where the country is supposed to be," said Senator Sifuna.
He claimed that President William Ruto is not listening to the opposition leaders who are trying to correct his regime.
He has defended Azimio leaders who are accusing the government by stating that it is their role to criticize what is bad in the government so that it can be fixed.
Sifuna, who is also ODM Secretary General, along with other opposition leaders, vowed to vote against the bill and also called on Kenyans to reject the bill because it will add burdens to their basic budgets.
