Sossion condemns court's ruling against CAS position

Chief Administrative Secretary of Tourism Wilson Sossion has broken his silence following a High Court ruling, which outlawed the appointment of those ministers.

The court cited the positions of Acting Ministers as unconstitutional.

On Monday,the court overturned the existence of Chief Administrative Secretaries position citing unconstitutionality and the taxpayer's demands.

But, Sossion, being interviewed by Citizen TV on Tuesday, questioned that the existence of the CAS in the ministry could not be blown away, claiming their contribution to the achievement of the provision of services.

Sossion has condemned the court for pronouncing that the CAS position was unconstitutional, stating that they have been created in the Public Service Commission.

Sossion, who also served as the Secretary General of the Kenya National Teachers ' Union (KNUT), said that the ongoing process of dismissing the ministers from office, was due to loopholes in the Constitution he said that their contribution was needed.

"The Public Service Commission was obligated to exercise it's constitutional mandate to create those offices and therefore it did it procedurally,"said Sossion.

In addition, Sossion agreed with Dagoretti North MP Beatrice Elachi, who had accompanied her to the session, said that the ministries needed assistants to evaluate performance in the ministry.

"I descended and stated at the 23 positions were legally established but looking at the compliment of the head of the public service in October it requested 423 and that was a further compliment,"he stated.

President William Ruto nominated 50 Chief Administrative Secretaries to serve in his government.

That was after they successfully went through vigorous interviews conducted by Public Service Commission.
