PS Omollo hosts japanese Ambassador to Kenya

Interior and National Administration Principal Secretary Dr. Raymond Omollo on Thursday hosted a delegation of officials from the Japanese Government led by Japanese Ambassador to Kenya Hon. Ken Okaniwa at his offices in Nairobi. 

The meeting acknowledged Japan's contribution in the management of public security in Kenya wuth a focus on border control, Maritime security and disaster management. 

Japan has recently provided the Kenya Coast Guard Service with 17 vessels to enhance operations against illegal activities, key among unreported and unregulated fishing.

The Japanese government also supported the installation of facial recognition technology at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) and the operationalization of the Busia Border Post, which has been crucial in facilitating the smooth cross-border movement of goods and people.

According to PS Raymond Omollo, the two countries continue to pursue more collaboration in the application of good practices, with the implementation of Integrated Border Management being among Kenya's top priorities as a long-term strategy to enhance border security.

"Over the years, Japan and Kenya have collaborated in an array of areas with the former providing most modern technological equipment and training to our security agencies." Omollo said in a statement on his Facebook page. 

"We look forward to many such productive engagements with the Japanese Government and people." Omollo added
