State announces nationwide launch of cashless Revenue collection policy

The government through the Ministry of Lands, Public works, Housing and urban development has announced the launch of a nationwide, cashless Revenue collection policy.
In a Press release today dated 9 October, 2023,The state Department for Lands and Physical Planning announced that the move will eradicate cash transactions within its offices hence reducing embezzlement.
" The state Department for Lands and Physical Planning is proud to announce the commencement of a nationwide initiative to roll out the cashless Revenue collection policy, a significant step towards eradicating cash transactions within land offices, ultimately reducing embezzlement. " the letter stated.
The Ministry stated that it had successfully completed pilots and implementation of the policy in its 18 offices and was looking forward to expand on a larger scale.
It stated that Digital payment methods like Mpesa and Bank transactions would be opted for.
"Having completed Sucessful pilots and implementation of this policy in 18 land offices, we are ready to extend its benefits on a broader scale. The policy mandates the use of digital payment methods (Mpesa or Banks) for all services fostering accountability, precision and timely Reporting in Revenue collection.
Out initial implementation in the 18 offices had demonstrated remarkable improvements in Revenue collection. "The Ministry added.
