State announces plan to Distribute 650 milk coolers to farmers through cooperative societies

The government has announced plans to Distribute 650 milk coolers to farmers through cooperative societies. 

President William Ruto while on an official working visit to Nakuru County noted that the dairy sector forms an important part of the country’s Economy but its full potential remaind unnoticed due to constraints. 

"The dairy industry forms an important part of our economy. Yet, its full potential remains largely untapped due to a myriad of constraints including poor value chain coordination. The adoption of game-changing approaches will rebuild the enterprise, spur production of quality milk and multiply the exports of processed dairy products."Ruto said on a Facebook post. 

Ruto said the move will enable Government's plan to improve quantity, quality and price of milk. 

" We agreed that the Government will distribute the 650 coolers to farmers through cooperative societies who will be linked to processors in our new plan to improve quantity, quality and price of milk." Ruto said. 

President Ruto engaged milk processors, captains of milk industry and farmers on the transformation of the dairy sector to enhance competitiveness and expand value-added opportunities. 

In the meeting at State House, Nakuru other leaders including Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi, Governor Susan Kihika, MPs,were present.
