The county government procures drugs worth shillings 240 million

Over sh. 240 million worth of drugs have been procured by the County Government of Kakamega to be distributed to all the health facilities in the region.
Area Governor Fernandes Barasa said the move had seen all level four hospitals received supplies worth between sh.10 million and 15 million.
“The drugs have been supplied to all health facilities in the region. Patients will get the drugs if they visit one of the facilities,” he said.
While speaking yesterday at Mayundi in Shianda ward, Butere Sub County, He said the consignment also entails non-pharmaceuticals.
Barasa however issued a stern warning against any theft of the supplies and called on the public to report such occurrences for action to be taken.
“We have released medicine to all the hospitals in the region. We don’t want drugs to be stolen in our health facilities,” he said.
Kakamega County General Teaching and Referral Hospital is a major facility that will receive a more significant share of drug supplies worth sh. 56 million.
