TSC issues statement over challenges affecting teacher recruitment portal
By Peter Ochieng
The Teachers Services Commission (TSC) has issued an apology over technical challenges affecting the teacher recruitment portal.
On Tuesday, TSC advertised for 46, 000 teaching jobs to be spread across Primary, Junior Secondary and Secondary Schools across the country.
However, teachers have expressed frustrations after their application bids were met with technical challenges, forcing the Commission to issue a statement.
“We regret to inform you that we are currently experiencing technical challenges affecting the teacher recruitment portal. We apologise for the inconvenience this has caused and kindly request your patience as we work diligently to restore the portal as soon as possible,” TSC said.
Applicants had flooded TSC social media pages, after their applications failed to materialise.
Here is a sample:
Mico @kimosopmike1: So you have made a deliberate move to suspend your portal as you advertise the positions. I suppose you are looking for reasons for not confirming interns.
Ken Aseka: Portal not working @TSC_KE. Kindly advise.
Kiprop Komen: This system is not working totally. Kindly maintain the system then come up with something legit.
Peter Kiima: The system is not working. Kindly can you help those who wish to apply but it's responding dancer 2 after entering the TSC number.
According to an advertisement placed on the TSC website, the Nancy Macharia led Commission was seeking to employ 46,000 teachers on permanent and pensionable terms. 39,550 slots are for Junior Secondary Schools (JSS), 450 for Secondary Schools and 6, 000 for Primary Schools.
“Interested and qualified candidates should submit their applications online through the Teachers Service Commission’s website, www.tsc.go.ke, under ‘Careers’ or teachersonline.tsc.go.ke,” the advert reads in part.
The Primary School applicants, the advertisement adds, must have at least a P1 certificate, while those applying for the junior or senior secondary school positions must hold at least a diploma in education.
Those serving as interns have been urged to apply within their current counties, sub-counties, or workstations, and will only be required to present their identity cards during verification.
The deadline for submitting applications was set at October 7, 2024.
