Uasin Gishu County Government has initiated various road projects across all Wards which have so far seen the completion of 800 kilometres of well-maintained roads.
This is in line with Governor Jonathan Chelilim’s agenda on improved infrastructure which is aimed at improving livelihoods through enhanced road networks to support efficient and safe transport of goods and services.
On Tuesday, a team from the County Department of Roads, Transport and Public Works inspected ongoing and completed road projects in Ngeria and Kapseret wards, Kapseret Sub County in an exercise taking place across the County.
The projects include the ongoing construction of Koibasui-Ngara Falls road in Ngeria ward, and grading, graveling and installation of culverts along St. Georges -Komoson road in Kapseret ward, Kapseret Sub County.
While giving their views during the inspection exercise, residents of Ngeria ward led by Samuel Kimeli, Stanley Tuiya and Gladys Chebet said the construction of Koibasui-Ngara Falls Road and subsequent completion of a new box culvert in the area will reduce the distance of accessing key social amenities from 5 to 1 kilometer.
"Accessing the market and schools from Koibasui to Ngara Falls has been a big challenge for us for many years. We want to thank the Governor for helping us improve this road," said Kimeli.
The residents added that the development will boost agricultural activities in the area as farmers will access their farms easily and faster as compared to when they had to travel for long distances to the farms due to poor roads.
The exercise which is ongoing across the entire county for the projects earmarked for the FY 2023/24 is being led by Roads County Executive Committee Member (CECM) Engineer Joseph Lagat and Chief Officer Engineer Abraham Kiptalam.
