Vivo Energy Kenya has initiated plans to partner with the county government of Uasin Gishu to train residents on various road safety measures as part of its corporate social responsibility.

Vivo Energy Kenya Commercial Manager Mr. Joseph Kering also pledged that the company will partner with the county on an internship training program for bright students from needy families, support training on defensive driving, and will also work with the county to enhance fire response and emergency operations.

"Our mutual corporation will also extend to campaigns designed by the county on environmental risk assessment of county equipment and machinery, " Kering said when he led a delegation of senior officers from the company on a courtesy call on Uasin Gishu deputy governor (DG) Eng. John Barorot on Thursday.

The DG observed that the partnership will go a long way in reducing cases of road accidents that have claimed several lives leaving others with severe injuries.

According to Barorot, the initiative which will be implemented through the Department of Roads, Transport and Public Works will also benefit county drivers and members of the public.

The DG said the County government was committed to ensuring the partnership bore fruits in areas of focus which will revolve around health, automation of county fleet safe disposal of used fuel, and other programs for the education sector.

"It is prudent that you maintain your quality if you expect to remain in the market and also attract more clientele. That's what has made your brand unique and attractive to your customers across the country,” said Barorot.

Concerning the upcoming devolution conference in Eldoret town, Barorot asked other corporate bodies to come and give their support through sponsorship for sporting activities that have been slated for August 16th.

The races will include a five-kilometre race for men and women and also the race for retired local and international runners which will be staged at the Eldoret Sports Club, the venue of the 8th Devolution conference.

The County Executive for Roads, Transport and Public Works, Eng. Joseph Lagat, reiterated that the department plays a crucial role in driving road safety awareness campaigns noting that the programme will benefit people.
