The aspirants' meeting, NEB says, will be presided over by the county returning officers appointed by UDA National Elections Board – which are different from the UDA county coordinators.
During the meeting, the County Returning Officers will brief the aspirants on the upcoming party nominations.
UDA has scheduled its party primaries for April 14, 2022.
Among the counties that will be hosting the aspirants' meetings include Bungoma, Busia, Kakamega, Kirinyaga, Laikipia, Nyandarua, and Meru as well as all counties in Rift Valley, Kisii Nyanza, and the coast.
Deputy President William Ruto who is also the UDA party leader recently said he will take charge of the party primaries to ensure they are free and fair.
“I want to assure all the candidates that we have the necessary experience and knowledge to run a credible nomination exercise and that we also know the importance of the exercise. I will personally supervise the nominations to ensure that the exercise is free and that every member gets an opportunity to be voted for and to win or not win fairly,” Ruto told journalists at his Karen residence on April 4, 2022.
The party has so far printed about 30 million ballot papers out of the expected 50 million, with the assurance that they will be ready for the nomination by the weekend.
Over 6,000 aspirants applied to contest on the UDA party's ticket for MCA, MP, Senator, Woman Rep, and Governor seats.
