Former Bahati MP, Kimani Ngunjiri, has termed the planned United Democratic Alliance (UDA) grass-root elections as a ‘waste of time’, calling on the party to recede its decision.

Ngunjiri, who noted that the elections would tear the party apart, noted that some of the contestants were well endowed financially and would buy their way into the party.

“It is not the right time, some people are bitter while others have the financial muscle to buy their way in, it will not be the people’s choice as people,” added Ngunjiri, noting that he would only support the President but not vie.

The Party elections slated for December 9, 2023, have attracted numerous candidates in Nakuru County, with many reading malice in the contestation of Members of the County Assembly and other elected and nominated seats.

“We are glad that the party has afforded us sensitization before we go to the ballot. We are determined to make Nakuru the hub of peace and cohesion as we rally members to our party for future political activities,” noted Nakuru County’s Secretary General Contestant Dennis Chege.

Chege, while rallying the party members to install him as their secretary general, called on the members to vet the contestants and choose leaders that would help deliver the dreams of the residents.

“If President Ruto fails or our elected leaders fail, we all fail. We have one Kenya and no one political formation is suffering because of the harsh economic times we are all in it,” added Chege.

South Rift UDA Chairman Benard Ngaruma, assured the members that the elections would be free and fair, refuting claims that the secretariat was planning to rig.
