Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta celebrated his 63rd birthday in style, with a thanksgiving message and a call to unity among Kenyans.

The retired leader, flanked by his family and friends, expressed his gratitude to God for giving him life and the peace prevailing in the country, adding that harmony is paramount in driving development.

"I thank God for all the years He has blessed us and kept our nation safe," said Uhuru, who reflected on his years in office and the challenges the country has faced. 

He reiterated that he is in good health and at peace, both personally and in his relations with others.

"I am well, and I am at peace and am grateful to God. I have never had an issue with anyone, and till date have no issue with anyone," he said.

Uhuru's sentiments come amid the current political scenario in Kenya, where demands for stability and cooperation are ringing loud and clear.

He called upon citizens to focus on peace and harmony, which he felt were also essential for the development of the country.

"I am praying for peace and understanding in our nation, because this is the only way our country will grow and prosper," he added.

The former Head of State has also reiterated severally the importance of unity, especially when the country has been experiencing political unrest. In regard to this, he emphasized that Kenyans must acknowledge their shared humanity and common needs.

"I try not to say much these days; I only hope for peace and harmony amongst Kenyans," he said, encouraging the citizens to live in peace without wrangling and instead creating a conducive environment.

"Peace and unity are a necessity in this nation so that every Kenyan can march forward together," he added, urging them to stop quarreling and interfering with other people's lives.

His remarks remind that prosperity in the country is a collective responsibility.

As Kenyatta celebrates this milestone, his statements on peace and unity express belief in communal coexistence at all levels of society for the development of all citizens.

This message is so timely when the nation is grappling with a number of challenges; hence, it leaves a hopeful appeal for a better and united future of Kenya.
