Vihiga Governor Pledges to Foster Sporting Activities

Vihiga Governor Dr Wilber Ottichilo today held a meeting with the under-19 county soccer teams that participated in the Talanta Hela regional tournament that took place in Kakamega from 12th to 19th August 2023.

The boys’ team qualified to represent the Western region in the upcoming Talanta Hela national competitions in Nairobi in December.

The governor applauded the boys’team for qualifying for the national competition, a feat which he said has put the county on the national map in sports.

Dr. Ottichilo also assured the team that his administration will fully support the team as they prepare for the competitions to enable them post good results.

He stated that the county in partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Sports will soon set up a sports academy to develop and nurture talents among the residents.
