Safina party presidential aspirant Jimi Wanjigi has termed Kenya Kwanza and Azimio la Umoja parties as tribal outfits.
Speaking while addressing a rally in Kwale County on April 17, Wanjigi stated that he could not join any of the two parties and opted to go solo ahead of august 9, general polls.
Wanjigi made the remarks after a section of Kenyans on social media questioned his absence during the official unveiling of the Kenya Kwanza alliance on April 12.

In his statement, the known businessman further blamed the United Democratic Alliance Party leader William Ruto for the economic challenges facing the country claiming that the Jubilee administration's first Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich was fronted by the DP.
He further said that Ruto is not a true hustler as he calls himself adding that the Kenya Kwanza flag-bearer would not transform the country's economy if he was elected as President.
“Ruto is not a true hustler because his man (Rotich) is the one who oversaw the economic transgressions that are currently burdening Kenyans.
“When Mwai Kibaki left our debt repayment was Ksh10 out of every Ksh100 of revenue collected but President Uhuru Kenyatta has moved us to Ksh75 out of Ksh100 of revenue collected. He borrows every month to meet a budget deficit of Ksh90 out of Ksh100,” he said.
It was Kenyan’s expectations to see Wanjigi joining Kenya Kwanza after he hinting a possible alliance during the United Democratic Alliance delegates conference held at Kasarani. Where the DP explained narrated how Wanjigi helped broker a deal between him and President Kenyatta.
Wanjigi moreover, maintained that his Safina party will not join any coalition, adding that he could not join Azimio since it was formed by proponents of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) which he was against.
