Wavinya reshuffles her Cabinet to realize better service delivery

Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has reshuffled her Cabinet in a move that she says is aimed at improving service delivery.

The changes which were done on Wednesday evening saw several Executive Committee Members (ECMs) and Chief Officers (COs) reshuffled for the first time since the governor took office last year.

In the surprise changes that took effect immediately Nathaniel Nganga the ECM for Roads, Transport and Public Works has been moved to the department of Lands, Urban Development, Housing and Energy while his former docket will now be manned by Consolata Mutisya who was serving as the ECM for Devolution.

Joyce Mwikali who had been appointed as the ECM for Education has taken over the devolution docket in the same capacity while former Lands ECM, Philip Kilonzo now takes charge of the Education department.

The governor also moved Mercy Mutua, the CO serving in her office, to take over the County Administration and Decentralized Units department in the same capacity.

Her position has now been taken over by Charles Mutinda, who was initially serving as the CO for Education. The reshuffle also saw Antony Mutunga move from CO Lands to the Department of Agriculture in charge of Cooperative Development in the same capacity.

Vincent Musili is now the CO for Agriculture and Food Security, he previously served in the Tourism Department while Andrew Muema is now the CO for Environment having been moved from the department of Agriculture in the same capacity. Benson Metho takes over the Lands docket from the Department of Water where he was in charge of Environment.

Addressing the press in Matuu County Lodge in Yatta Sub County the governor said the decision is aimed at enhancing efficiency in service delivery.

“I have taken the decision to reorganize the leadership of my government in order to achieve better efficiency in the delivery of services to the residents of Machakos,” said Wavinya.

She noted that the changes will ensure the right people are in the right positions to drive her development agenda.

ECMs who were not affected by the changes are Daniel Yumbya (Health), Joel Nzomo (Agriculture), Onesmus Kuyu (Finance) and Sharon Mutua (Trade).
