23-Yr-Old Vanessa Ogema who was recorded hurling insults to a hospital attendant while disrupting the procedural flow of services at Port Victoria Hospital in Busia has been arrested.
In an undated video, Ogema and a man were seen harassing hospital staff over what they termed as failure to attend to a patient.
Amid the commotion, Ogema caused havoc by throwing files on the floor and hitting a table and was heard telling the nurse that she would call one “Ababu.”
The act attracted public uproar and condemnation, prompting Sports and Youth Affairs CS to address public discussions surrounding his name.
“The actions associated with me do not align with my values or commitment to public service. I unequivocally condemn any behaviour against principles of integrity. I am thoroughly investigating these allegations and will take decisive actions to rectify any wrongdoing,” Namwamba wrote in a social media post.
The National Nurses Association of Kenya condemned the incident calling on regulating authorities to take responsibility and urgently address the matter with Health CS Susan Nakhumicha also rebuking the attack while defending her health workers.
Ogema was established to be a theatre technician student attached to Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral & Research Hospital Theatre on rotation and listed as a student from Nairobi Women Hospital.
She will be arraigned Monday 8.
