World Number 1 Iga Swiatek dumped out of Wimbledon by rising Putintseva

World No 1 Iga Swiatek suffered a shocking third round exit at the Wimbledon as she fell two sets down to Yulia Putintseva on Saturday. 

The 30th seed Putintseva an impressive 3-6 6-1 6-2 victory on her third match point.

Iga Swiatek: "I hope fans will understand that I am a human being too." an emotional Swiatek said in the post - match conference room. 

Swiatek who recently clinched the Rome and French Open came bragging a 21-match winning streak. 

She was on course to cruise into the last 16 at the Wimbledon when she claimed the first set , but the Kazakhstan player hit back with a brilliant second set where she broke twice.

It seemed to knock the top seed off her stride and she netted to give 30th seed Putintseva an impressive 3-6 6-1 6-2 victory on her third match point.

"It feels great, it feels really great" Puntiseva admitted after the emphatic victory.

"I was just so focused on playing fast and not giving her any time. So, that's pretty much it."

"I was feeling it on the court and that is why I was like fire. I was trying to entertain you more and more with my shots.

"I just want to enjoy this moment, like cool down a little bit, do a stretch and eat. Important!" She added. 

In Another shocker. Two time finalist and 2023 Runner - up On Jabeur faced a similar exit in the hands of Elina Svitolina. 

Svitolina produces a brilliant performance to beat Jabeur 6-1, 7-6(4). 

Puntiseva will face Jelena Ostapenko in the last 16 while World Number 2 Coco Gauff will face Emma Navarro in the RO16. 

Roland Garros finalist Jasmine Paolini will clash with Madison Keys in the RO17 while Elina Ryabakina will clash with Anna Kalinskaya. 

Chinese Xinyu Wang will face Svitolina in another clash.
