A total of 151 unprocessed bhang plants were uprooted by the security team in Wamunyu location in Mwala Sub County of Machakos and the owner arrested.
The operation was conducted by a joint operation of Police officers and Chiefs from Wamunyu after they got information from Community Policing members that someone was cultivating bhang in the area.
Mwala Sub County Police Commander Nancy Jerobon while speaking to the media after the successful arrest of Muema Kanyili 28 years who was nabbed during the NGAO operation said they got a tip off from the community policing team in Mwala.
“We received intelligence from the community policing members that a man was growing bhang in Wamunyu location and we joined hands with the other security teams and found the bhang and uprooted it,” said Jerobon.
She said the man is in police custody and will be arraigned in court.
This comes two months after two people were arrested for growing bhang in Mwala with a street value of Sh.38,000.
Machakos Police Commander Joseph Napeiyan said they confiscated 336 bhang plants weighing 20 kgs.
He said they arrested the duo after a tip off from the public and found the bhang planted in jerry can containers.
