A section of youths in Narok town have backed the proposed finance bill saying it will bring more fortune to the country.
Wilson Sanaet, a taxi driver said the proposed bill is good for the growth of the nation as it will improve the living standards of the people in the long run.
“I have no issue with the proposed finance bill, I have read it and gone through it and it is clearly an effort by the current government to promote the self-reliance agenda,” said Sanaet.
Sanaet reiterated that the bill is an effort by this government to try and increase revenue collection so as to continue funding projects across the country.
“What this government is doing right now is an effort to increase revenue to help in funding the projects that will benefit all the citizens in the country,” added Sanaet.
Ezekiel Sempele, a Narok resident accused many people of not taking time to read through the bill and instead depended on the politicians opposed to the bill to make conclusions.
He therefore called on the relevant departments to move around the country sensitizing people on what is contained in the bill and its future benefits.
“This finance bill has not yet reached the people at the grass root, who are left only to rely on the politician to make decisions. The government should therefore put an effort to ensure that the bill reaches all people in the language they understand best,” said Sempele.
Sempele observed that the housing levy proposed in the bill was a good idea in eradicating slums and people living in camps.
“I believe the whole idea is good if only it is properly communicated to the people. Experts should be sent to all local radio stations where they will explain the initiative in a local dialect and the residents will have a chance to ask questions,” he reiterated.
Another youth Simon Simbai said the bill mostly affected the ‘working class’ saying those advantaged to have a pays lip should also help in the growth of the economy.
“Some of us are learned but have never been in formal employment. Those employed should contribute to the growth of our nation,” he said.
