A section of young people in Narok County have come out to defend the development record of Governor Patrick Ntutu, saying he has implemented many projects in a short period as opposed to the previous regime.

The youth led by Raphael Maleto praised governor Ntutu for building dispensaries, repairing roads and digging boreholes in many parts of the county that has helped improve the livelihood of the people.

Maleto who hails from Olokurto ward said his ward had benefited from a dispensary and roads upgraded in the last one year of the current administration.

“Most projects were on paper during the last regime. Nothing was being implemented on the ground. Now we are seeing mega projects being implemented that are improving the livelihood of the people,” said Maleto.

He observed that in Olokurto ward, two dispensaries and a vocational training center were constructed after public participation where the residents prioritized the facilities.

Another resident from Maji Moto ward Joseph Silantoi confessed to have witnessed mega projects in his ward that have benefited the residents.

He observed that the recent bursary given by the county government amounting to Sh400 million had benefited more children than in the previous years, where less than Sh10 million was given.

“We are ready as Narok youth to give credit where it is due. We have seen the governor allocating Sh100 million in every ward for development which has been utilized well,” added Silantoi.

David Kaleku from Siana ward asked those criticizing the current leadership to first consider the many things that the county government has done for the people on the ground before complaining.

He recalled that in the previous regime, the people suffered without good roads, hospitals, and a shortage of clean water, where women and children had to trek for long distances to look for the precious commodity.

Kaleku asked Narok residents to be patient and express their complaints through their elected leaders and in public participation forums so that they can receive the necessary help.

“We need to be patient with our leaders as they implement the agenda they had promised us. Let us be honest with ourselves and give credit to what has been implemented as we wait for the rest to be done,” he said.

The youth were speaking at a Narok hotel, days after Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina raised concern over alleged misuse of county funds.

While issuing the Sh400 million bursary, governor Ntutu promised not to answer in camera his critics but instead to continue implementing his development agenda that will benefit the common mwananchi.

“I have seen the Senator making too much noise on social media. Instead of criticizing the little we have done, I invite him to come on board and help in making decisions and implementing other projects,” said Ntutu.
