Honestly, how many can say are living and eating healthy products. Day in day out, we live in a world of surprises, and we are the ones to blame for rising medical issues related to healthy living.
Living healthy gives a person the opportunity, capability and motivation to act in a way that affects their physical and mental well-being positively. According to health professionals, people should always pay attention to what they eat, ensure they are physically active, and learn about themselves and their food.
Personally, technology and developments have made us lazy and we have forgotten to take care of ourselves and our bodies. I recall when I was young, manual work was part of the living. We used to walk to school and back on a daily basis. These days kids are picked up by school buses and even the physical exercises at schools offer little benefits to the kids.

Build Healthy Eating Habits
• Eat a variety of fruits a day
• Learn to eat vegetables, especially dark green, red, and orange vegetables.
• Start eating whole-grain, high-fibre breads and cereals. Ensure you have eliminated refined and processed carbohydrates.
• Always drink low-fat and fat-free daily products. Choose something that has proteins like eggs, beans, avoid poultry skin.
• Reduce the intake of saturated fats and trans-fats like hydrogenated oil.
• Start using vegetable oils such as olive or canola oil and avoid solid fats if possible.
• Take small portions of salt or sodium. If you are older than 50 years, take less than 1500 gm per day.
• Avoid junk food at all costs. I know the chicken and chips are tasty, but products with refined white flour, added sugar, and solid fats have a high concentration of sodium.
• Avoid drinking sodas and other sugar-added drinks.
• For alcohol lovers, do it moderately.
Make these radical changes in your life to better your life. For those seeking a permanent solution to improving their eating habits, I would advise you to approach the idea with an open mind and choose approaches that you will reflect on, replace, and reinforce.
For example, reflect on your eating habits, both good and bad, and find out what triggers the bad choices. Then, replace all the unhealthy habits with better and healthier habits. Lastly, reinforce your new habits.
I believe these changes are not only applicable to adults but also to kids and youth. Let’s make better choices in life and live longer to see our products of the changes.
Note, change is always hard and I have to say I have given up on these changes a couple of times but with the current goings, I will be forced to do the radical change permanently. Manufacturers and food processing companies keep producing products that can affect our lives. These companies will continue to do so unless we introduce the change.
Live better, stay better, by eating better.
