Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League side AFC Leopards raised over Sh2 million courtesy of a fundraiser held on Friday night.

The Club popularly known as Ingwe in a statement on Saturday said Sh2.3 million was raised during the event, conducted both physically at Maa hotel, and online.

"A special thanks to our Patron Mr. Alex Muteshi, Shinyalu MP Fred Ikana, Makadara MP George Aladwa ,Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi , Nairobi County Chief Officers led by Oscar Igaida, all the friends of AFC Leopards, branches, members and fans for turning up for the club's fundraiser at Maa Hotel yesterday evening."

"We managed to collect a total of 2.23M. We appreciate you for all your kind contributions and support."

The money is expected to be channelled into daily operations of the football Club.

Last week, Ingwe beat perennial rivals Gor Mahia 2-1 in an FKF Premier league match, in the process denting K'Ogallo's hopes of winning the title this season.

Tusker lead the standings with 64 points, one ahead of Gor Mahia after 30 rounds of matches.

On the other hand, Leopards are ranked 7th with 45 points.

Tusker FC, Ulinzi Stars, AFC Leopards and Kakamega Homeboyz are into the semis of the FKF Mozzart Bet Cup.

Tusker is currently tackling Ulinzi in the first semi final at the Nyayo national stadium, before Leopards play Homeboyz in the second semi at the same venue, from 3PM.

Much is at stake as winner of the competition will represent the Country in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Confederations Cup next season.
