AFCON 2023: Super Senegal crash Cameroon to secure Knock out qualification

Senegal sailed through the Knockout stage of the African Cup of Nations campaign with a dominant 3-1 win over Cameroon in their Group C encounter played on Friday night at the Charles Konan Banny stadium in Yamoussokro.
It was the second win for the lions of Teranga after previously defeating Gambia 3-0 in their first match.
The lions of Teranga Now top of Group C with six points, Senegal becomes the second country to advance to the next round of the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast.
Senegal were impressive from the start of the match and only took 16 minutes to open their scoresheet after a deflected strike by Ismaila Sarr beat Cameroon goalkeeper Andre Onana to give them the lead.
Senegal gained a number of chances Through the first half but the scoreboard remained 1-0 into the first half break.
In the 71st minute of the second half, Habib Diallo doubled for Senegal with a super strike after using well on Ismaili Sarrs pass to make it 2-0.
Cameroon went back into the match with a consolation goal by Jean-Charles Castelleto but Senegal continued to dominate the game keeping the Indomitable lions at bay.
It was Sadio Mane who finished the job for Senegal in 90th minutes to seal the 3-1 victory for the defending champions.

Meanwhile, Cameroon have a mountain to climb as they settle on the third spot with only one point as Guinea beat Gambia 1-0 to claim 2nd spot with 4 points.
In the last round of group games, Senegal will face off with Guinea while Gambia lock horns with Cameroon.
