A somber mood engulfed Rongena village in Narok West Sub County after the body of a 45-year-old woman was found dangling from a tree Monday morning.
The deceased Alice Towet was said to have been ailing for a long time and was under the care of her auntie Grace Cheruse, when the incident occurred.
Narok County Police Commander John Kizito confirmed the incident saying the deceased was sleeping with her auntie in the same room but when they woke up in the morning, she was not in the house.
Her auntie alerted the neighbours who mounted a search party for the deceased in the nearby homesteads and in the marketplace.
It was later to their surprise that the lifeless body of the missing relative was later found on a farm in the neigbouring Schagwan village hanging from a branch with a piece of cloth tied around the neck.
The body of the deceased was removed and taken to Longisa hospital morgue pending autopsy.
Last week, two incidents of suicide were reported in the county where one case occurred at the Ewaso Nyiro area in Narok West Sub County while another was recorded in Narosura area in Narok South Sub County.
The county commander has decried increasing cases of suicide in the area that he attributed to mental sickness, saying the cases mostly involve young people.
