In a bid to increase its customer base, AirTel Kenya has opened a new branch in Meru.
The Meru Branch is the 66th Airtel Customer Care shop in the country.
Airtel Kenya intends to boost its investment in network infrastructure to increase its customer base across the country.
According to Airtel Kenya Chief Executive Officer Ashish Malhotra, the telco will develop up to 1,000 network sites in the next year, besides increasing the 5G network coverage from 450 to 600 sites.
Malhotra noted that the company has set aside over Sh23 billion to be utilized in the network expansion drive.
Speaking in Meru town after opening a new Airtel Shop Mr Malhotra said the company was keen on netting more subscribers through affordable and convenient services.
“We intend to improve network access, affordability of services, and customer-care footprint across the country. By the end of this month, we intend to roll out 25 more 5G sites across the country to close the year at 475 sites,” Mr Malhotra.
The Meru branch is the 66th Airtel Customer Care shop in the country. Mr Malhotra said the company has also rolled out ‘Internet Mashinani’ which is meant to enhance access to 4G networks in the country.
He added that the company was keen on providing an affordable 5G network in areas that lack fiber connectivity.
“We are providing affordable 4G and 5G enabled devices which also come with affordable unlimited data options. This will go a long way in increasing home broadband connectivity under our internet machining program,” he said.
On Airtel Money, Mr Malhotra said the telco was eyeing more subscribers. The firm is running a mobile money campaign dubbed ‘Rudishiwa Transaction Fee’ where customers will be refunded withdrawal transaction fees as airtime.
He urged residents to visit their shops to sample their affordable products.
