Learners under the Competency-Based Curriculum and members of the 4K clubs have been urged to visit this year’s Kisii Agricultural Show and learn from the exhibitions, whose theme is aligned with the new curriculum.

Addressing the press at the showground Thursday, the chairman of the Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) Southern Kenya Kisii branch Mr. Keffa Onduso expressed optimism the show would be successful after a long break instigated by the Civid-19 pandemic.

According to the chairman, exhibitors were doing the final touches for the show which will run from the 6th to the 9th of July this year to showcase new technologies in terms of Agriculture, trade, banking, and learning institutions.

Onduso assured that the show had partnered with all security apparatus to ensure it is safe.

“We welcome you all to this year’s entertainment, particularly in the fanfare arena including the amusement park, and also to enjoy a number of bands and choirs, football matches and tug of war where men will entertain others through play," said Onduso.

According to Onduso, the show will have over 101 exhibitors who have confirmed participation out of the targeted 200. Previously the show had a minimum of 70 exhibitors, particularly in 2019 just before it was stopped after the outbreak of COVID.

"The reason for many exhibitors is because of our wide range of marketing strategies. Improvement of Gusii stadium, particularly the road which is currently tarmacked," the chairman noted.

Onduso explained that vehicles will be charged a daily entrance fee of Sh. 100 while adults and children will be charged sh. 200 and sh.150 respectively.

Special parties, such as a group of children in school uniform with a minimum of 50 individuals, will receive a reduced price where each child will pay sh. 100 and the accompanying teacher sh. 150.

Onduso pointed out that they have membership categories, where a single member will pay sh. 2,000, a full member sh. 3,000, and an executive member sh.8, 000.

He revealed that the ASK Show has also partnered with various organizations, such as Kisii Primary School where members will park their cars, and Kisii Sports Club where fun fair activities will take place.

The chairman said to partner with the youth, they have introduced the young farmers club which was not there previously, farmer dairy and the 4K clubs to ensure they are interested in the event and participate fully.
