Bank employees injured in banditry attack

Two employees of a local bank were injured last night after a vehicle they were traveling in was attacked by suspected highway bandits in the Kambinye area on the Loiyangalani-Marsabit road in Marsabit County last night.

Loiyangalani Sub-County Police Commander Nicholus Mutua said the attack that happened at around 9 pm left the two occupants in the vehicle with serious bullet injuries.

Mutua said investigations have commenced into the incident which he termed as isolated adding that the victims were rushed to Marsabit County Referral Hospital where they were admitted.

The KCB Bank employees were traveling to the Lake Town of Loiyangalani from Marsabit for an assignment but they had no security escort.

A contingent of security officers who were immediately dispatched to the area are currently involved in an intense manhunt for the suspects.

The Sub-County Police Commander said that no effort would be spared in pursuit of the culprits and retrieval of the illegal firearms used in the attack.
