Sports Director of Bayern Munich, Max Eberl, has expressed his disbelief that Jamal Musiala was left out of the list of players competing for the Ballon d'Or award.

The Germany international, 21, was left out of the 30-man shortlist for football's most coveted individual award, despite his outstanding performances for club and country last season.

Speaking to Deutsche Presse-Agentur (DPA), Eberl said, "We are very surprised, it's amazing."

He emphasized that Musiala has been one of the best players during the season, contributing greatly to the success of Bayern and the German national team.

Musiala, who played a key role in Germany's UEFA Euro campaign, was named in the tournament's best XI and was among the top scorers.

"Jamal was one of the best players at the Euros, he was selected in the best XI, he was one of the top scorers of the tournament," Eberl said, highlighting the player's international success.

In addition to his performance at the international level, Musiala was a key player for Bayern Munich in the 2023/2024 season.

His performances helped Bayern reach the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League, where his creativity, dribbling ability and vision were key assets for the team.

"FC Bayern reached the semi-finals of the Champions League thanks to Jamal's performance," Eberl added, emphasizing the player's importance to Bayern's comprehensive victory in Europe's premier club competition.

Eberl expressed frustration at the omission, calling it "completely incomprehensible" that Musiala was not considered one of the top 30 players in the world in the past year.

"The fact that he is not even one of the top 30 players of last season is completely incomprehensible," he said.

Considered one of the most promising talents in world football, Musiala has continued to impress with his unique technical skills and unique style of play.

"Musiala is one of the most interesting players in the international football scene with a unique and unique ability. We are proud of what he is doing for FC Bayern and also for the national team," Eberl concluded.

The decision to remove Musiala from the list of contenders for the Ballon d'Or award has sparked debates among fans and pundits, with many questioning the criteria used to determine the nominees.

Despite the scandal, Musiala remains an important figure for Bayern and Germany, while his expectations are high for him to continue to rise internationally.
