Beatrice Chepkoech shatters worlds 2000m Steeplechase record in Zagreb

Kenya's Beatrice Chepkoech set yet another record completing the 2000m Steeplechase best with 5:47.42 clock during the Boris Hanzekovic Memorial Continental tour gold in Zagreb.
This was her second record after having set the 3000m steeplechase record in Monaco during the 2018 championships clocking 8:44.32.
Following her closely was 20 - year old Winnie Jemutai who clocked a previous best of 5:52.92 with Slovenia's Marusa Mismas-Zrimsek coming in third in a National record of 5:52.38 while Albania's Luiza Gega closed the four best with 5:56.79.
The 32-year old who had earlier suffer an injury in 2022 attributed her victory to focus and commitment.
"I had one world record and now I have two, so I am lucky,” said Chepkoech.
“It is all about staying focused and positive, and I thank god I was able to run well during the season.”she added.
Chepkoech has crashed The 5:52.8 mark set by Gesa Felicitas Krause in 2019 by 5 seconds down and now shifts focus to the Wanda Diamond League Final in Eugene next weekend also eyeing for the world Athletics road running championships in Riga on October 1st.
