Busia County Women Representative Catherine Omanyo has expressed commitment to support poor students, orphans and young girls who dropped out of school due to early pregnancies, school fees and other valid reasons, but are willing to go back to school.

Speaking to the press after donating bicycles to two students at Kosera and Akwobait villages in Teso South Sub County on Saturday, Omanyo said that the bicycles were meant to help the students get to school on time and concentrate on their studies.

“Currently I am taking care of 35 second-chance girls,” she said, adding that the girls will be able to pursue their dreams in life through further education.

The women representative advised men within the County to stop luring young girls into pre-marital sex, but instead allow them to concentrate in their education.

“I am here to fulfill my campaign promises, one of which was to ensure that young girls who dropped out of school due to early pregnancies are given a second chance to pursue their dreams,” she said.

Ruth Okumu, a form two student who benefited from one of the bicycles thanked the MP for the support, adding that it would help her go to school on time.
