A boda boda rider has been arrested over the alleged abduction and rape of a foreign national in Lang’ata area, Nairobi County.
According to the DCI, the boda boda rider identified as Protas Onsongo was among three operators hailed by three ladies as they left a popular club along Lang’ata road.
The three ladies had booked a hotel in Nairobi CBD. As the other two operators headed towards town, Onsongo is reported to have made a turn and forcefully drove the passenger towards Ololulua Forest in Ongata Rongai where he allegedly raped her.
“In an unfortunate incident reported at Ongata Rongai police station this morning, the youthful woman recounted amid tears how the boda boda rider forced himself on her before leaving her in the dense Ololulua forest in Ngong, Kajiado County,” DCI statement read in part.

The team included agents and officers from; Crime Research & Intelligence Bureau (CRIB), DCI Nairobi Regional command and the National Transport and Safety Authority, (NTSA).
Efforts of the multi-agency team paid off when the suspect was intercepted in Ngong at around 3pm, as he reportedly attempted to flee the city.
Following the arrest, the suspect was subjected to medical examination in a bid to build up a solid case against Onsongo.
The incident comes a few weeks after a female motorist was assaulted by a group of boda boda operators along Forest road. The incident elicited public uproar, prompting the government to institute reforms in the sector.
Some ofthe reforms being undertaken currently include registration of all boda boda riders and issuance of new operational licences.
