Nelly Chepkoech, the bride at the centre of an abortive wedding that was scheduled for last Saturday, has steered clear of blame while stating that the church was responsible for the mess.

The wedding that was to be held on Saturday at Kapsoiyo African Gospel Church in Bomet Central was cancelled on the D-day.

Mainstream media as well as social media had come out guns blazing blaming the bride as having refused to be bound up by the shackles of matrimony in order to be given more time to reconsider her stand.

Chepkoech was alleged to have gone missing after the aborted wedding, claims which she refuted saying she was at her Suseok home with her family.

The 23-year old said she had courted her man since March 2023 and that she was ready to be joined in matrimony.

The media had also claimed that the two families had developed cold blood and that even after emissaries were sent for reconciliation, nothing tangible came of it.

According to presiding Pastor Clement Chalulot, the wedding was postponed to a date later to be set to allow for more guidance and counseling saying the planning of the wedding was done hurriedly.

Chalulot said the wedding might be rescheduled for a date in February 2024.

Dignitaries and villagers who had thronged the church were treated to free servings of the popular Kalenjin delicacy Mursik and other foods that had been prepared for the guests.
