Chelsea thrash Boro to book Carabao Cup final

Chelsea have booked their place in the 2023/2024 Carabao Cup final.

The Blues thrashed Championship side Middlesbrough, popularly known as Boro 6-1 to book their place in the Carabao Cup final on Tuesday night, at Stamford Bridge.

Mauricio Pochettino's side won 7-2 on aggregate, after Boro, coached by former Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick beat the Blues 1-0 at the Riverside Stadium, during the semi final's first leg encounter two weeks ago.

The Blues opened the scoring through Boro captain Jonny Howson's own goal, after which Enzo Fernandez added the second before the half-hour mark.

Axel Disasi and Cole Palmer made it 4-0 before half-time. A fifth came through Palmer, as Noni Madueke came from the bench to score the 6th.

The visitors then got a consolation in the 87th minute through Morgan Rogers.

Chelsea will now face winners of the other semi final, pitying Liverpool against Fulham in the final.

Fulham host the Reds in the second leg clash tonight. Liverpool emerged 2-1 winners during the first leg two weeks ago.

The final will be played on 25th February, 2023 at the Wembley Stadium.
