Bishop Cyprian Kodienya of Moriah Outreach International, in Siaya has condemned the report that was produced by Azimio la Umoja together with the Kenya Kwanza saying it does not serve the interests of Kenyans.

The Bishop dismissed the NADCO report saying it has failed to address the pressing issues in the country.

“There is no way for Kenyans to find help because people are hungry and they are sick and neither is there peace and even though the church is mandated to propagate peace this is not possible in the face of hunger because then they don’t know even peace,” noted Kodienya.

Bishop Kodienya pointed out that the report ought to have identified mechanisms for bringing down the inflated cost of living that is now haunting most Kenyans

“It is our plea to the government to find ways of feeding the hungry masses and also of instilling peace so they can even find time to commune with God in prayer so that God intercede on their behalf,” pointed Kodienya.

He pointed out that politicians ought to prioritize the wishes of the masses who are now going through a harsh economic time.

Bishop Kennedy Abonyo also said, “Our Azimio and UDA brothers who joined the bipartisan talks should know that the gist of the ordinary people’s concern is the runaway cost of living which wasn’t even clear when the talks ended and that is what the church hopes to engage the government to solve.

Bishop Kodienya at the same time opposed plans to resuscitate the positions of the chief administrative secretaries which he noted would only further overburden Kenyans with more taxes and hike the cost of living.

“If already Kenyans are struggling under the unbearable weight of unfolding taxation and you still want to introduce more positions that add to more taxation this is why we as the clergy are condemning the CAS positions,” pointed Kodienya.

“The issues at stake are still not clear to the ordinary Kenyans and only the church can intervene to make it clear to the citizens because right now many children cannot even go to school due to lack of school fees and many schools are yet to get government funding,” added Kodieny.
