Busia County Commissioner Kipchumba Ruto has ordered the goons in Marachi (famously known as jobless) to surrender to security officers before they are hunted.

Speaking during a security meeting at his office premises on Friday, Mr. Ruto ordered the group to stop their criminal activities and surrender all the goods that they stole during the Wednesday demonstration in Busia town.

‘They must surrender to the police and if they do not,’ we shall pursue them, arrest them, arraign them, and charge them in a court of law,’ he said.

He opined that the members of the group are looters, violent robbers, and economic saboteurs who deserve to be in jail.

“The security officers will deal fairly and firmly in accordance with the law in order to restore peace and tranquility in Busia,” he said

The CC urged the local residents to remain calm as security officers perform their duty of maintaining law and order.

‘I also want to urge the elders, religious leaders, and law-abiding citizens to persuade the criminal gangs to move away from violence and be law-abiding citizens,’ he said.

Ruto disclosed that 10 members of the illegal group have been arrested and will be charged with participating in unlawful assembly, looting, malicious damage of property, and robbery with violence.

‘The victims have already recorded statements, they are being analyzed by the relevant authorities before appropriate action is taken against the culprits,’ he said.

He at the same time said that some of the political leaders who organized the demonstrations have also been arrested.
