Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai has announced that the County Public Service Board is in the process of issuing employment letters to hundreds of casuals who have been volunteering in healthcare facilities.

Speaking today during a consultative meeting with senior management staff from the Ministry of Health, Governor Lomorukai expressed his vision of encouraging a motivated and dedicated workforce to help the government achieve its health agenda.

"It is not acceptable to retain casuals for an extended period. We are committed to providing employment letters to many of the volunteers in our health facilities," stated the Governor.

Governor Lomorukai who conducted spot-checks on various departments of the Lodwar County Referral(LCRH) Hospital, noted that he was impressed with the dedication of healthcare workers, especially after granting the facility operational autonomy.

He disclosed that additional funds would be allocated to enable the referral hospital fulfill its essential mandate of saving lives through improved healthcare.

Last year, the County Government recruited 46 new healthcare workers, including medical officers, physicians, medical consultants, nurses, nutritionists, and Community Health Assistants.

The Governor outlined plans to invest in establishing mega projects such as level six hospitals, improving existing health facilities, and recruiting specialist medical professionals to enhance healthcare access and reduce costly referral cases.

County Chief Officer for Preventive and Promotive Health, Peter Lomorukai, briefed the Governor on the progress of programs and other development projects under the Ministry of Health and Sanitation.

LCRH Chief Executive Officer Epem Esekon noted that the facility has prioritized improved emergency care, as well as maternal and child health, as part of efforts to enhance services.
