County readies to avert losses due to El Nino

Uasin Gishu County Government has put in place measures to control losses related to flooding and destruction of property due to heavy downpours even as many other parts of the Country continue to receive heavy rains due to the El Nino.

According to Uasin Gishu County Roads, Transport and Public Works County Executive Committee Member Eng Joseph Lagat, the County Government had started receiving complaints of challenges of flooding and moved into action to map areas prone to flooding.

Lagat said in addition, the County has already deployed machinery in the prone areas to open blocked drainages in the affected areas as a way to control over flooding.

The Engineer gave out emergency numbers which the residents can use to contact the County for quick interventions in case of any emergencies, that is,0710646464 or 0532061185.

The CEC urged residents to also contact Sub-County and Ward Administrators in their respective areas in case of emergency.
