CS Murkomen, Ida Odinga Flag off Inaugural Skyward Express Flight to Migori

Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen in Company of Dr. Ida Odinga flagged off the inaugural skyward Express flights from Nairobi to Migori on Wednesday at the Wilson Airport.
The 37 capacity seater Dash 8 Q-100 aircraft will facilitate direct flights from Nairobi to Migori on three occasions a week for Monday, Wednesday and Friday, a move that will simplify travel to the region.
This accessibility will further solidify Migori's position as a hub for commerce, tourism, and innovation.
Witnessing the launch, Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wa who is also the Majority leader of the National Assembly signified the move as transformative in gearing Development in the region.
"Transportation serves as the lifeblood of a nation's growth, and when it takes to the skies, progress accelerates. Air transport facilitates the seamless movement of goods, services, and people, driving economic development at an unprecedented pace. With three weekly flights, the potential for transformative growth is tremendous."Ichung'wa said in a statement on Facebook.
This initiative marks a pivotal moment, promising a multitude of economic benefits for the region. From boosting tourism to enhancing trade and attracting investment, the impact of this new flight route cannot be overstated." Ichung'wa added.
Also present were KAA Chairman Hon. Caleb Kositany EALA MP Hassan Omar Hassan and Migori Senator Eddy Oketch.
Kenya Airports Authority on its part noted that the skyrocketing demand for air travel in Kenya over need by passager to reach destinations on time is necessitating the chances for air travel
The 1.2Km Migori airstrip was launched in February by Governor Gladys Wanga and CS Murkomen.
According to Flavia Chocho the officer in charge of the Airstrip, The Nairobi - Migori Flights will continue to enhance economic growth in the region with the airstrip having made 44 flights last month flying a total of 295 passagers.
