Moyale Court Users committee have destroyed bhang worth Sh. 9.53 million.

The 670 kilograms haul of narcotic was set ablaze at the Oddha Moyale dumpsite 20 kilometers way from Moyale town by the members of the Moyale Court Users Committee (CUC), led by their chairman who is also the Moyale Principal Magistrate, Willy Cheruyoit accompanied by the area Sub-County Deputy County Commissioner (DCC), Benedict Munywoki.

Cheruyoit said that the haul of bhang was held as exhibits and that the cases have been completed.

He said the destruction of the drug was informed by a court order.

Cheruyoit said that by burning the drug it was a clear message to the drug barons that they will not be given any space to operate their unscrupulous businesses.

Speaking during the Function, Moyale DCC, Benedict Munywoki appealed to the members of the public to be proactive in volunteering information to security personnel whenever they come across people doing illegal businesses.

He said that the information shared will be treated with confidentiality.

Muywoki said that it was demoralizing to see that some of the drugs were nabbed by the police in houses belonging to people within Moyale town.

“Since you have stored the drug at home and the children will like to know what you are selling, the bhang will be used by our children who will have no future after consuming the drugs” Munywoki said.
