The Health Cabinet Secretary for Health, Susan Nakhumicha, has advised individuals who signed up for WorldCoin to seek medical attention if they notice any unusual health conditions.

This comes as the government intensifies its probe into the contentious tech company.

Nakhumicha, while addressing Parliament members scrutinizing WorldCoin, disclosed that initial investigations suggest that the company's scanners may have posed health threats to Kenyan users.

She acknowledged that some users might already be experiencing health changes and assured that the government is closely monitoring the health status of those registered.

However, she clarified that specific health issues linked to the use of these scanners have not yet been identified, but more information will be shared in due course.

Government data shows that over 350,000 Kenyans had signed up for the digital currency before the registration process was halted on August 2.

“As indicated by Hon Shakeel Shabir, there may be Kenyans out there already experiencing different complications or changes in their bodies after underdoing the scan.

Nakhumicha urged those who have undergone the scanning process and are experiencing any health changes to seek immediate medical attention.

" We would like to urge them to report to the nearest health facilities in order to undergo an in-depth examination,” she stated.

She also advised those who are currently healthy to stay vigilant as future health issues cannot be dismissed.

She further revealed that the government is drafting the Digital Health Bill to address health risks associated with WorldCoin and similar digital platforms.

These revelations were made during Nakhumicha's appearance before a committee established to investigate the WorldCoin registration debacle.

Other high-ranking government officials also testified before the committee to explain why the registration process was not halted sooner.

Ezra Chiloba, the Director General of the Communications Authority of Kenya, insisted that WorldCoin was not legally registered in the country, making the registration of Kenyan citizens illegal.
